Best left Buried is about secrets in the authors hometown Morganton, North Carolina. Arliss Pardot is the main character who grew from a little girl into a woman, who has an unexplained fear of birds. Arliss doesn't remember her childhood before she was twelve because she was adopted when her mother was institutionalized. Arliss was nurtured and grew up and moved to New York where she attended college and now has a degree in ornithology. Arliss is living a normal life with the help of her therapist and partner Nick Baxter. Arliss has not seen or thought about her mother in twenty years, and then one day she had received a phone call that her mother had died. Arliss asked how her mother had died, and because she was never given a real answer she knew she had to go to North Carolina to find out and while she was there make arrangements for her mothers burial. She took a leave of absence at work and made her boss promise that her partner Nick had to stay in New York. Arliss arrives in Morganton, North Carolina where she experiences evil and starts to remember why she has a fear of birds.
The novel has a great plot with twists and turns. The characters were interesting, believable and well developed, and you really felt their emotions. If your into horror and don't mind a cuss word or two, I think you're going to really like this novel.
