K5 Learning Review

I was given the opportunity to review a 6 week trial to an online reading and math program for kindergarten to grade 5 students. It's the early years that are the key to a child's academics and K5 Learning helps kids build reading and math skills through independent study.  K5 Learning was founded by parents and designed for home use and it can be used after school as well as the weekend or during summer breaks.

When starting K5 Learning the child will take an online assessment of 8 key reading and math skills, this is intended to give you a general idea of where your child should be placed at in this learning program. The online assessments are not extensive testing so they should not be use for grade placement in school. This online reading and math program helps kids develop good study habits for their futures.

The lessons are interactive and are animated with great graphics and your child can create their own character and change it at anytime throughout the program. The program has pretests, quizzes, games in the arcade. Parents can receive progress charts and see a percentage after each pretest. Kids are able to get up and take a break in between lessons providing they don't click on the arrow to go on, otherwise the lesson will start. There is a lot of great reading and phonics with this program kids will learn about syllables and they will also learn vowel sounds for the younger kids. There is also spelling included in this program that would help with the reading part of the program, but older kids will have no trouble with this program.

Parents can feel more at ease about leaving the room or area in which there child is using this program because there are no pop up ads, no chat and no links to follow, and there are also no downloads. Parents and kids will have access to the program 24/7.  Parents will need to keep in mind that if there child cannot read or read very well they may need assistance using the program.

I invite you and your child to  try a sample lesson so that you can get an idea of how the program works to see if it is right for your child. I do recommend K5 Learning it is a great online program that can help children that are struggling and it can also help them to keep on track as well.
